Music Lessons

I give music lessons. I have two students, Amy 9, and Tim 11. To be more specific, we play guitars together. I go to their house every couple of weeks and we do a lesson for one of them, then sometimes, we all just play together and sing for the next one. It's a lot of fun! I went to the Library yesterday and renewed my Library card. I found a book that we barrowed a long time ago and checked it out again. It really has some neat stuff in it, and I want to show it to Tim and Amy next time. It's called The Everything Guitar Book

I learned to play the guitar without lessons, but I have to admit, I was spoiled. I sure didn't learn on my own! We had quite a large group of youngsters in a church group that all learned at once, and aside from a couple of very patient examples, we all considered ourselves learning on our own. I can remember nine beginning guitarist playing for special music... Wow. Or was it seven beginners and two pros? I can't quite remember. That was 6 years ago.

If you are interested in playing the guitar, there is a lot of good stuff you can find on the internet that is free, and easy to use. Drop me a comment if you have a couple of questions and whatever you do have fun! I always tell my students, if they don't practice, they won't sound better, but they should practice because they want to and they should have fun at it because nobody is trying to make them sound better if they don't want to. It works half the time. I just shrug it off when they don't practice much because I know they have other things they are interested it. There is nothing worse then having to do something because someone else wants you to, and not because you want to. By the way, I consider these kids advanced.

See ya,
Mary
